FLUXspace is pleased to announce A Legitimate Waste of Time; a site-specific sculpture installation by Tim Eads. This is Eads' first solo exhibition which includes the premier of a pedal-operated butter churn that generates electricity to power a toaster. Viewers are invited to operate the machine and then to enjoy freshly churned butter and warm toast produced by their efforts. Drinks at the opening will be made from sweet buttermilk, the by-product of making butter. Other works in the show encourage viewers to question their physical space and their way within it. Eads' hopes to create alternative paths for interacting with architectural spaces often ignored or taken for granted.
Eads grew up in a small town in West Texas and recently graduated from Cranbrook Academy of Art. He currently lives and works in Philadelphia. He is an artist in residence at FLUXspace and has received funding from several sources including Kickstarter.com and The Weston A. Price Foundation.

this friday - February 19th
There is a cozy coffee house in Mt. Airy go here to find it.
There is also an awesome pizza/microbrew restaurant in the 'hood. Visit here.
This is going to be a rare opportunity - one not to miss!
Colin, the owner, will meet with us and talk about the New York Gallery scene (Brooklyn to be exact) and the similarities and differences to the Philadelphia art scene from the Gallery owner (and artist) perspective. We will get a tour of the gallery and studios. I am super excited! Two artist friends of mine looking to open a gallery/studio space in Mt. Airy are meeting us there for the tour.
See you then and hope you had a good (but snowy) week off!

your choice this week!
The question was posed if the presentation/project can be done by a group instead of an individual.
You may work in pairs if you do not want to work individually. BUT the project should be more in-depth and the work of two people.
See you @ Mt. Airy Contemporary @ 10:15 am on the 19th.
